Art is the vehicle through which I am able to reflect on my experiences and explore, through images, ideas to share with the world.
While born and raised in the US, my travels to India, Tanzania, Rwanda, Indonesia, and time living in East Timor have impacted and continue to influence me and my artwork greatly. Having studied and now working in the field of conflict resolution, my art depicts various narratives from the world I have seen- exposing the complexity, suffering, and most importantly, the resilience of living elements amidst these realities. Each piece is distinct to a moment and place, and while creating the artwork, I simultaneously explore and document my position within each narrative. By sharing my work, I can engage others to search and find their own meaning in the art, and perhaps see a part of themselves in the images. Through abstraction with vivid colors, organic figures and merging diverse perspectives into a single frame, I seek to compel the audience to do more than observe each piece- and hope to inspire interrogation of singular meanings and catalyze creativity for artists and others alike.
I have previously shown my paintings at various venues in NYC between March 2004 and May 2006. I have been painting since I was a child have explored sculpture using various mediums including wood, stone, and metal.
